The married couple who gave the recipe for Cornish Yarg to a commercial producer in the 1970s were Alan and Jenny Gray. According to Wikipedia, the cheese is made according to a recipe by someone called Gervase Markham, dated to 1615, which the Grays found in their attic. The original recipe is thought to date back to the 13th century.
